Certified translations
If one or both spouses/partners are not Italian citizens, the in order to be married in Italy, you must have “certificates of no impediment to marry” (CoNI) translated and sworn on oath in Italian. To do so, after obtaining the original certificates, you must have them legalised (with apostille) in the issuing country (UK, USA, etc.) and then forward them to me for translation and to take to a local Italian court or Justice of the Peace to be sworn on oath. As a court-approved translator, my translations certified on oath are valid for getting married everywhere Italy.
As the requesting authority (Comune or Municipality where you are getting married) may have stipulations that vary, and as your situation may be unique, you can contact me for information and advice before starting the process.
Regarding timing and cost, the timing largely depends on postal services and availability at the court, but it’s usually within 2 weeks. As to cost, each CoNI costs about 80 euros, which includes translation, oath, duty stamp and posting with tracking service to all parts of Italy. To save time, I recommend posting to the Comune where you’re getting married.
