About
I was born in London, attended school in Cornwall, university in Leicester, and worked in London before moving to Venice in 1989. There, I learnt Italian, taught English, worked for a container-ship owner, an engineering firm and began translating. In 1992, I opened a translations bureau serving publishers, institutions, law firms, companies, and private clients.
After fostering a Rom boy for 3 years, in 2006, I adopted a Russian child, Elena, who lives with me.
In 1998 I was appointed Honorary Secretary (Venice) for the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy (BCCI), an opportunity that led to becoming Honorary British Consul at Venice in 2000 for the regions of Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
As Hon. British Consul for 26 years, I have gained experience in consular assistance, helping British and Commonwealth citizens in matters of documentation, weddings, funerals, and many other aspects of visiting, or living in, north-east Italy.
A part of my role is to represent the Ambassador, attending events and commemorations, often giving speeches in public.
